What did you read last year? And how many of you read it? We compile the 20 most popular stories as read online by our audience

There are lies, damned lies and web statistics. We render hundreds of tales on any dedicated day and a list of the top 20 most-read pieces of the year simply doesnt reflect the variety, aspiration, nuance and scale of the complete range of our journalism.

But the simple fact is that lists are terribly interesting, particularly when they tell us whats interesting to other people. And so here were presenting the most popular pieces we published in 2015, organised by page views, and then by total attention time.
